Few London addresses have the international recognition of Mayfair. Bordering Hyde Park and sitting between Oxford Street, Regent Street and Piccadilly, it combines some of the capital’s finest residential streets with world-class restaurants, hotels, galleries and shopping.

What Makes Mayfair Special?

Mayfair’s appeal lies partly in its extraordinary location, but also in the variety found within a relatively small neighbourhood. The grand architecture of Grosvenor Square and Berkeley Square contrasts with quieter streets, historic mews and the village-like atmosphere around Shepherd Market.

Bond Street provides some of the world’s finest luxury shopping, while Claridge’s, The Connaught and numerous private members’ clubs and Michelin-starred restaurants reinforce Mayfair’s position at the heart of international London.

What Kind of Property Can You Buy?

Apartments make up much of the Mayfair market, ranging from elegant period conversions and traditional mansion flats to some of London’s most luxurious contemporary developments.

There are also Georgian townhouses, discreet mews houses and substantial family homes, although supply is limited. At the top of the market, Mayfair offers exceptional lateral apartments and penthouses with concierge services, security, underground parking and hotel-style amenities.

What your Budget Buys in Mayfair

As a broad guide as at May 2026, good Mayfair property typically commands around £2,000–£3,000+ per sq ft, with the very best new developments and trophy properties achieving considerably more.

Around £1.5m can secure a good one-bedroom apartment, while £2m–£3m brings a greater choice of one- and two-bedroom properties. £5m+ opens up larger apartments and some exceptional period homes, while the finest houses, penthouses and new-build residences can command prices well into eight figures.

Why overseas buyers choose Mayfair

Mayfair offers a particularly polished version of London life. Bond Street and Mount Street provide exceptional shopping, while restaurants, galleries, five-star hotels and private clubs are woven throughout the neighbourhood.

Hyde Park and Green Park provide extensive green space on its western and southern edges. Soho, Marylebone, St James’s and the West End are all within walking distance, making it entirely possible to enjoy much of Central London without getting into a car.

How Well Connected is it?

Mayfair’s central location makes it exceptionally convenient. Bond Street, Green Park, Oxford Circus and Marble Arch Underground stations surround the neighbourhood.

For international owners, Bond Street is particularly useful - the Elizabeth line provides direct services to Heathrow within 35 minutes, making Mayfair considerably more accessible from the airport than its central London location might suggest.

Is Mayfair Right For You?

Mayfair is for buyers who place location, prestige and convenience ahead of getting the greatest possible amount of space for their budget.

It works particularly well as a high-end pied-à-terre for overseas owners who want the West End, Hyde Park, restaurants and shopping immediately outside their door. For North American buyers seeking an internationally recognised London address and a property that can serve as an effortless base in the capital, there are few places quite like it.
